Chloe x Halle perform the National Anthem
Recording artists Chloe x Halle performed the National Anthem before last night’s 2020 NFL opening game of the Kansas City Chiefs vs the Houston Texans. Chloe and Halle wore wore T-shirts bearing the images of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.
I’m so grateful to Derek Dixie for the opportunity to assist on the arrangement and play piano on this beautiful hybrid performance of The Star Spangled Banner and Lift Every Voice and Sing (the Black National Anthem).
Derek envisioned the arrangement as a call for unity as we strive for a more perfect union; one in which all persons are considered equal and where justice reigns supreme. I believe we can get there and hold that vision firmly in mind! #WeAreFamily
