IN AND OUT OF SHADOWS, a musical by famed Chicano writer Gary Soto, is about the lives and experiences of a group of undocumented teenagers. Soto based his play on interviews with Bay Area DREAMers, mixing humor and pathos in the voices of teens who dream and despair as they navigate the shadows of undocumentation.
The talented actors of San Francisco Youth Theatre’s DREAM ensemble bring their personal experience to the stage and mix English, Spanish, Tagalog, Spanglish and other languages as they unfold the unwieldy human effects of this political issue.
