But what a fabulous month April was! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/chelseamariedavis\/posts\">Chelsea<\/a>, my incredible co-composer, and I spent a few weeks squeezing every bit of creativity out of our brains, creating the last few songs for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marianmusical.com\/\">MARIAN<\/a>: we now have a &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%22I_Want%22_song\">want<\/a>&#8221; song, an &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/11_o%27clock_number\">11th hour<\/a>&#8221; song and a finale!! And they&#8217;re all winners!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We then held an artist&#8217;s retreat in NYC at the end of April, where we had the opportunity to rehearse the songs and do a read-through with a phenomenal cast of Broadway performers. It was such a gift to be able to listen to the score sung by those voices. I&#8217;m still in awe&#8230;we created a musical!It&#8217;s still a bit too long, and I&#8217;m sure we&#8217;ll make more changes as we go along, but for now, we couldn&#8217;t be happier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the April artist&#8217;s retreat, I was able to reconnect with some friends from my days at the Donna Summer Musical, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/kayetuckerman\/\">Kaye Tuckerman<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Andrew Wildman Foster (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/kayetuckerman\/https:\/\/www.playbill.com\/person\/drew-foster-vault-0000125882\" target=\"_blank\">Andrew Wildman Foster<\/a>. It was a glorious time, surrounded by beautiful people and great food provided by our own Chef Michael!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the month of May, I&#8217;m in Louisville, KY, working with two other SUMMER alums: Ken and Christina Robinson, as MD on their new musical, <a href=\"https:\/\/my.actorstheatre.org\/stillready\">Still Ready<\/a>.
